Going for a cruise.... in Illustrator Part 1

Teaching myself illustrator while working on a poster for a "Cruise Night - featuring American Classic Cars along Elmwood Ave. in Buffalo NY."

"File>Open" a pic into illustrator and set it at 50% opacity and locked the layer.

I created another layer and using the pen tool and switched to black as my main (Base) color set to 50% opacity. Being a base color, adding transparencies over it later will give highlights and shadows.

Here I created two new "RED" layers (on top of the black base) at 50% opacity and let them over lap.

Same for the front bumper. (current pic 3 layers, white 50%). Check out how the different layers and colors add Highlights, shadows, and dimension.

If anyone has a different technique or ideas, please feel free to comment. -A
